Hello!
It's been a a crazy week with the conclusion of Term 1, Semester 1 and there has been a lot of work being done behind the scenes.
Before the teaching break rolls around, we have been busy meeting with as many members of the blind and vision impaired community as possible. With the intention of spending the holidays defining our product requirements through a process of identifying and grouping common needs.
As we continue to narrow down our scope, we have concluded that items deemed 'out of scope' will be those needs that are not common across stakeholders. While this may potentially reduce the number of features we plan to incorporate into the device, it should allow us to focus on getting a core group of functions up and running for the initial prototype !
From our clients side, we had our weekly client meeting in which Alex presented a number of hardware pieces he was introduced to at the most recent NVDA convention. This was great insight into some potential physical resources and their respective capabilities currently out on the market. Understanding products on the market allows us to begin framing expectations for the Ver device, both on our end and on Alex's end. There is a video attached below of Alex interacting with some of the technology that was displayed at the NVDA conference.
Moving forward into the coming weeks, it is really important that we make the most of the information that we have managed to gain through the meetings held over the past 2 weeks. The benefit of the HCE model is that it accounts for evaluating and redefining our requirements with the discovery of new information down the track. Thus, getting an initial V1 of requirements finalised over the coming weeks is incredibly important before we head back into term in mid April.
